AT OPENING OF EXHIBITION BY RAY CHEN

Salutations
I am delighted to be opening this exhibition of the artistic work of
one of the best photographers to be found anywhere in the world.
Semetimes-1-thin lie is as good as he is, not only because of his
own passion and commitment, but also because of the sheer beauty
of his subjects, whether they be the flora and fauna of Jamaica, or
the beautiful ~ale species that we have on that Island.

Ray Chen has managed to capture through the lenses of his
camera, the "beauty and soul of Jamaica", land we love.
The selected photographs from his two excellent Photographic
Essays on Jamaica depict vivid images of Jamaica and Jamaican

Since embarking on the study of photography here in p/;w ,,,York 33
years ago, Ray Chen has consistently excelled in his field.
The ability of this Jamaican to capture the true expressions of his
subjects and his capacity for hard work, have distinguished him
among his peers.
Ray Chen continues to live and give true meaning to Jamaica's
motto - ''Out of Many One People". This motto epitomizes the
harmony that we as a people of diverse history and ethnic origins,
have achieved in our nation.
In his work, Ray Chen has captured this harmony in a most unique
way.
Here in the United nations, the challenge to achieve harmony
through the combining of diverse interests and positions, and the
preservation of world peace is a daily challenge.
