Description	Dr. Don Wilson, Lecturer in the School of Education, contributing to the panel discussion on “Issues and Problems in the Language Arts in Jamaica”, at the New Education Lecture Theatre, UWI Mona on August 30, 1984. The discussion was one of the highlights of the Fifth Biennial Conference of the Society for Caribbean Linguistics held at Mona from August 29 to September 1. Dr. Don Wilson reviewed the Language Materials Workshop which started at the UWI in 1981, and looked at the problems of teaching children to read and write. Also in the picture are, from left, Mr. John Hearne, Journalist and Language Teacher, Mrs. Olive Forrester of the Ministry of Education and Mrs. Barbara Gloudon, Communications Consultant.
