Description	*Women seated in the Women’s Common Room, Gibraltar Hall. From left to right are Muriel Lowe, ?, Yvonne Brown, Bethy Clarke, Cecily Thomas and Norma Theobalds. Gibraltar Hall was the first Hall of Residence at UWI Mona. The UCWI was built on the Gibraltar Camp grounds and extended in time. The Camp consisted of a square mile of barbed-wire, housing for staff, elevated sentry stations, a Nunnery and sleeping, dining and 'ablution' facilities, all of which had been constructed to accommodate World War 2 internees. The first lecture at the UCWI was in Pre-Medical Chemistry in a hut on Gibraltar Camp.
