Description
*Inside the male undergraduate’s room on Gibraltar Hall a student is seen at study . Gibraltar Hall was the first Hall of Residence at UWI Mona . The UCWI was built on the Gibraltar Camp grounds and extended in time . The Camp consisted of a square mile of barbed-wire , housing for staff , elevated sentry stations , a Nunnery and sleeping , dining and 'ablution ' facilities , all of which had been constructed to accommodate World War 2 internees . The first lecture at the UCWI was in Pre-Medical Chemistry in a hut on Gibraltar Camp .
